Welcome Back Buck
The Trail Blazers just announced that Buck Williams has been hired as an assistant coach, along with Bernie Bickerstaff and Bob Ociepka. Williams’ official introduction will be tomorrow afternoon… the second time in franchise history that Buck becomes a Blazer. It was 21 years ago that Williams first landed in Portland as part of a player trade with the New Jersey Nets.
When you work at a television station, it can be really cool digging through the video archives and watching some of the old stories that aired “back in the day.” In this case, I dug up a story from June 26, 1989. The late, great Phil Cassidy filed this report for KPTV when Buck Williams was traded to the Blazers and introduced outside Memorial Coliseum.
